About Opuwo
Opuwo is the capital of the Kunene Region in north-western Namibia. The town is located about 720 km north-northwest from the capital Windhoek, and has a population of c. 7,500. The call Opuwo turned into given by means of the commissioner of Ondangwa, Mr. Hugo Hahn, who came on the lookout for land to build an workplace. The call Otjihinamaparero changed into modified to Opuwo in 1974 because of orthographic reform.The first workplace to be set up inside the Kaokoland location was the colonial administrator in Swartbooisdrift on the banks of the Kunene River.
