About Omaheke
Omaheke is one of the fourteen areas of Namibia, its capital is Gobabis. It lies on the jap border of Namibia and is the Western extension of the Kalahari wilderness. The name Omaheke is the Herero phrase for Sandveld. On 11 August 1904, a German armed pressure with artillery and device guns, which had encircled the Herero who had fled to the Waterberg in Namibia, attacked and compelled the survivors to escape to the Omaheke wilderness, wherein massive numbers died. Those who attempted to emerge from the barren region had been killed by way of German patrols along the perimeter of the Omaheke.
