About U Wisara Monument
This Monument is a statue of U Wisara in Yangon. It is found straightforwardly west of the northwest corner of Kandawmingala Lake on U Wisara Road and is found a few meters southwest of the Shwedagon Pagoda, the statue was raised on August 1, 1943.
U Wisara was a Burmese Buddhist priest, who kicked the bucket in jail following a 166-day hunger strike against the British manage in Burma. The priest had been detained and tormented by the provincial government for affecting dissidence.
The definitive forfeit significantly moved numerous Burmese who not worried about governmental issues previously, the priest is honored today with the U Wisara Road, a noteworthy road in Yangon, and the U Wisara Monument in Yangon.
