About Maha Bandula Park

Maha Bandula Park offers superb strolling around the center of the downtown region and points of view of incorporating heritage structures, including City Hall, the High Court and the old Rowe and Co retail foundation, now a bank. The recreation center's most noticeable component is the Independence Monument, a 165ft white column enveloped by two concentric circles of chinthe half-lion, half-winged serpent divine beings.

There's in like manner a children's play region. Exactly when laid out by the British in 1868, the recreation center was called Fytche Sq. after Sir Albert Fytche, a manager official at the time. Later it was renamed Victoria Park to perceive the ruler whose statue used to stand where the Independence Monument is today.
