About Kyaikmaraw Paya

The small town of Kyaikmaraw, 15 miles southeast of Mawlamyine, is the site of Kyaikmaraw Paya, a sanctuary of peaceful, white-confronted buddhas worked by Queen Shin Saw Pu in 1455. Among the sanctuary's numerous extraordinary highlights are diverse glass windows set in the outside dividers, an internal corridor improved in reflected tiles, and excellent earthenware tile floors.
Concealed block walkways prompt and around the principle square haven in normal fifteenth century Mon style. The immense principle buddha picture sits in an 'European posture', with the legs hanging down as though sitting on a seat, instead of in the significantly more typical leg over leg way. Various littler leg over leg buddhas encompass the primary picture, and behind it are two leaning back buddhas. Another noteworthy element is the cut and painted wooden roof. Maybe as great as the sanctuary is the course there, which goes through splendid green rice fields studded with sugar palms and beautiful towns.
