About Kheng Hock Keong

This is the most seasoned Chinese Buddhist and Taoist sanctuary in Yangon, arranged in Chinatown. It was established in 1861 by the Hokkien people group and committed to Mazu, the Sea Goddess. The word 'Kheng Hock Keong' signifies "Sanctuary in the festivity of success/fortune" and the name was picked in appreciation to Mazu for her gifts amid their ocean voyages and for their thriving and fortune in Burma.

It is otherwise called the Kheng Hock Keong or Qingfu Temple and it is the biggest and most seasoned sanctuary to the Chinese ocean goddess Mazu in Yangon, Burma. It is situated at the intersection of Sintodan Street and Strand Road in Latha Township. The frontcourt of the Kheng Hock Keong has an air well with halls encompassing it leading to the main hall where the main deities are enshrined in altars.
