Dar-el-Makhzen

The Dar-el-Makhzen or Sultanate Palace is a historical building and museum in Tangier, Morocco. It was the seat of home for the Sultans of Morocco while remaining in the city. The building was worked amid the reign of sultan Moulay Ismail in the seventeenth century. It was developed by Ahmad ben Ali al-Rifi, general of the Jaysh al-Rifi and semi-self-governing legislative leader of Tangiers. The building is arranged in the Kasbah on one of the most noteworthy purposes of the city sitting above the Medina and the Strait of Gibraltar. At present it is utilized by two galleries, the Museum of Moroccan Arts and the archeological Museum of Antiquities.

The Dar-el-Makhzen was the royal residence to which the last Sultan of free Morocco, Moulay Hafid, was banished when the French Protectorate of Morocco constrained him to renounce. He moved in with his whole array of mistresses, slaves and staff, through and through comprising of 168 individuals, and remained in the Palace when his sibling Moulay Yusef assumed control after the Treaty of Fez. The building is focused inside two yards, which are adorned with wooden roofs, marble wellsprings and arabesques. A portion of the segments utilized are of Roman inception.
