About Zoologico Miguel Alvarez del Toro
The Zoologico Miguel Alvarez del Toro ZOOMAT is a Mexican zoo situated in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas. It was established in 1942 as Zoologico de Tuxtla Gutierrez. It was renamed after its chief Miguel Alvarez del Toro and migrated in 1981. At present, it is situated in a nature hold known as El Zapotal. The primary normal for the zoo is that it just displays endemic fauna. The zoo was established in 1942 by Eliseo Palacios for the investigation and protection of the fauna. It was initially situated in a little region west of the city of Tuxtla Gutierrez, with only 12 species and a little historical center of normal history.
In 1949 the zoo changed its area, moving toward the east of the city, in the region known as Park Madero. It was based on a zone of 5 hectares where it stayed minimal over 30 years, regardless of its little establishments and even provincial amassed a significant gathering of fauna of Chiapas, starting to get a notoriety for the creativity of its plan, presentations and the significant work of Miguel lvarez del Toro as a specialist and supporter for the state's normal assets. In 1980 the zoo was moved to its present offices south of the city and there, by pronouncement, was given the name "Zoo Regional Miguel Alvarez del Toro", in acknowledgment of the profession as a researcher.
