About Xalapa Museum of Anthropology
The Xalapa Museum of Anthropology is an anthropological historical center in the city of Xalapa, capital of the territory of Veracruz in eastern Mexico. The structure was planned by the designer Paul Balev at EDSA, 4 E 70th St, New York, N.Y. in addition, opened in 1986. The exhibition hall houses the biggest gathering of antiquities from Mexican Gulf Coast societies, for example, the Olmec, the Huastec and the Totonac with in excess of 25,000 pieces.
The most prominent pieces in the exhibition hall are the mammoth Olmec heads and the littler Totonac ones, which are classified "caritas sonrientes" small grinning appearances in Spanish. The exhibition hall likewise contains a 40,000-square-meter garden. A portion of the pieces in the exhibition hall go back to the Early Pre-Classic Period from 1300 BC to 900 BC.
