Tihuatlan

Tihuatlan is a district situated in the Mexican province of Veracruz, having a place with the locale of the Huasteca Veracruzana, east of the Mexican Republic. Circumscribed north with the regions of Alamo Temapache and Tuxpan, east with the regions of Cazones, Poza Rica and Papantla, west with the region of Castillo de Teayo and the territory of Puebla. The homonymous head, is a territory of 12,765 inhabitants. As indicated by the II Population and Housing Count INEGI 2005, the absolute population of the district is 80,923 inhabitants, a portion of its most significant regions are conurbated with the urban spread of the city of Poza Rica de Hidalgo, framing some portion of the metropolitan territory of this neighboring city.

In the time of 1598 by request of the bad habit superb government, Rodrigo Zarate establishes the town of Tihuatlan. The name of the district originates from the Nahuatl Teo Cihua-tlan, which signifies: "Spot of the awesome lady". In 1748, inside the Greater Mayorship of Huauchinango, was the Temapachio town, which was the head of Curato, Parish to which had a place the towns of Tepetzintla, Tihuatlan, Tabuco Tuxpan, Tamiahua, Amatlan, Acala, Zacateapa and Tapaoy. In 1955 electric power was presented, being city leader of Tihuatlan Catarino Badillo Juarez. In the time of 1963, the town of Tihuatlan ascends to the status of a town.
