About Tenabo
Tenabo is a town in the Mexican kingdom of Campeche, municipality of Tenabo. The town of Tenabo was founded inside the region known as the ferris wheel inside the neighborhood Jacinto Canek in 1450, via one of the descendants of the Ah Canul that took the name of Tah Naab, after the fall of the Mayapan League.
In 1544 Francisco de Montejo and Leon el Mozo, distributes the highlands of Campeche in encomiendas, which gave upward thrust to the Encomienda de Tenabo that became awarded to the Spaniard Juan Garcia de Llanes who gave it the call Tenabo. In 1588, it became visited by way of Fray Alonso Poce; in 1594 the construction of the Church of the Assumption began; by using 1632 Tenabo's encomienda was in the fingers of Don Inigo Figueroa; in 1786, whilst the encomienda system turned into abolished, Tenabo belonged to Maria Josefa Garcia, the town became part of the Municipality of Hecelchakan, and in 1790 it passed into the jurisdiction of the Partido del Camino Real Alto.
