Soyalo

Soyalo is a city and municipality within the Mexican kingdom of Chiapas. Soyalo is a picturesque town of multiethnic descent: Zoque, Nahuatl and Tsotsil; of poetic name that during nahuatl language means Way among palm trees by the conjunction of the words: soyotl, palmeras and otli, manner. From pre Cortesian times the population of Soyalo took gain of the wild palm trees for the manufacture of hats and mats, in addition to the fibers of the ixtle to fabricate hammocks and backpacks, of those crafts and plant species comes the call of the metropolis.

It is one of the oldest cities in Chiapas, founded round its venerated ceiba. In the sunrise of the impartial Mexico rose its principal church, where nowadays popular fairs which include San Miguel Arcangel are celebrated. During the regime of Francisco J. Grajales, the Bombana electric electricity plant became built, which, taking advantage of the rapids of the homonymous river, fed the towns of Tuxtla and its surroundings with light. Today this small hydroelectric plant is changed by the modern dams and vegetation of the Grijalva basin.
