Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel

San Miguel's most famous sight is its parish church, characterized by its pink 'wedding cake' towers that soar above the town. These peculiar apexes were planned by indigenous stonemason Zeferino Gutierrez in the late nineteenth century. He supposedly construct the outline in light of a postcard of a Belgian church and trained manufacturers by scratching designs in the sand with a stick. Whatever is left of the congregation dates from the late seventeenth century. In the sanctuary to one side of the principle sacrificial stone is the much-loved picture of the Cristo de la Conquista Christ of the Conquest, made in Patzcuaro from cornstalks and orchid globules, most likely in the sixteenth century.

The adjoining Iglesia de San Rafael was established in 1742. Complicated, pink zeniths jabbing through the horizon will enable you to find the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel, a transcending ward church sitting above El Jardin from the southern side of the court.
