About Ocozocoautla
Ocozocoautla is a town and region in the Mexican province of Chiapas. It is situated in the western piece of the state, 24 km west of Tuxtla Gutierrez covering portions of the Depresion Central Depression and the Montanas del Norte Northern Mountains. It is flanked toward the north by Tecpatan, toward the east by Berriozabal, Tuxtla Gutierrez and Suchiapa, toward the south by Villaflores and toward the west by Jiquipilas and Cintalapa. The name originates from the Nahoa language and signifies 'woodland of ocozote trees'. 'De Espinosa' was included 1928 to respect Raymundo Enriquez Espinosa who was the primary legislative head of the province of Chiapas.
Ocozocoautla gained city status in 1926. The atmosphere is warm and moist and the vegetation is for the most part high and medium rainforest. Starting at 2010, the district had an all out population of 82,059, up from 72,426 starting at 2005. Starting at 2010, the city of Ocozocoautla de Espinosa had a population of 39,180. Other than the city of Ocozocoautla de Espinosa, the region had 1,069 territories.
