About Oaxaca Cathedral
The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, positioned in the city of Oaxaca de Juarez, Oaxaca, Mexico, is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Antequera, Oaxaca. Its construction began in 1535 and it turned into consecrated on July 12, 1733. It is dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption. Its facade is fabricated from green cantera stone typically observed in Oaxaca's homes, and the interior is in Neoclassical style. The altar capabilities a statue of Our Lady of the Assumption which become made in Italy at some point of the Porfirian era, who's represented by using a bronze sculpture delivered from Europe and made via Tadoini.
The towers of the cathedral are not the originals, as they had been destroyed in 1931 by means of an earthquake. In the south there is a clock donated to Oaxaca through King Fernando VII. The Lord of Lightning is in the ultimate chapel at the left, whilst the second on the proper incorporates the stays of the Cross of Huatulco. Atop the west wall of the quire is a domestically constructed baroque pipe organ, parts of which date to 1711-1712, restored in 1997.
