Miacatlan is a city and region in the Mexican province of Morelos. Toward the north is the State of Mexico and the region of Temixco, toward the south Puente de Ixtla, Mazatepec and Tetecala, toward the east Xochitepec, and toward the west Coatlan del Rio and the State of Mexico. The city fills in as the civil seat for the encompassing district of a similar name. The region announced 26,713 inhabitants in the 2015 enumeration.
The toponym Miacatlan originates from a Nahuatl name Mitl bolt, and Acatl bar or stick, and Tlan spot, and signifies "spot of plenteous reeds for bolts". This is presumably in reference to the two lakes in the district, Coatetelco and El Rodeo. The archeological site of Coatetelco is additionally in Miacatlan. The historical backdrop of the district of Miacatlan returns to the pre-Hispanic time, it was a piece of a political and religious focus, tributary to Xochicalco, yet later it had a place with the Cuauhahuac house. Miacatlan was vanquished by the Aztecs, which caused it to have a place with Tenochtitlan. Amid the pilgrim time frame, it was called San Francisco Miacatlan and turned out to be a piece of the Marquesado del Valle de Oaxaca.
