About Mapastepec
Mapastepec is a town and region in the southeastern province of Chiapas, Mexico. Its name gets from the spot name mapachtepec, "Slope of the Raccoon", a compound of the Nahuatl words mapachi "raccoon" and tepetl "mountain". Mapestepec is on the Pacific Ocean, with generally half of its domain on the Pacific Coastal Plain and half in the Sierra Madre de Chiapas mountain run. It is mostly inside two of Mexico's Biosphere Reserves, highlighting various significant species, including the horned guan Oreophasis derbianus, Baird's ungulate Tapirus bairdii, the Jaguar Panthera once and uncommon cloud timberland and mangrove natural surroundings.
The essential division makes up over portion of the neighborhood economy. Key items incorporate cheddar and dairy items and the nearby Ataulfo mango. In 1611, the principal enumeration led by the provincial specialists recorded Mapastepec's population as 265. Mapastepec was moved up to the status of town manor by a declaration issued by Ephraim A. Osorio, at that point legislative head of the State of Chiapas, on July 5, 1955.
