About Las Margaritas
Las Margaritas is a city, and the encompassing region of a similar name, in the Mexican province of Chiapas. The civil seat is found nearly 25 km toward the upper east of Comitan de Dominguez, while the district reaches out toward the east to the extent the outskirt with Guatemala. Some portion of the Lagunas de Montebello National Park is in the district's region. Starting at 2010, the city of Las Margaritas had a population of 20,786. Other than the city of Las Margaritas, the region had 486 territories.
The region was made and the settlement given the status of a pueblo on 9 December 1871, by Governor Jose Pantaleon Dominguez. On 24 March 1981, under Governor Juan Sabines Gutierrez, the city situate was given city ciudad status. In January 1994 it was one of the urban communities seized by the Zapatista National Liberation Army EZLN amid their uprising. The town of La Realidad, central station of the EZLN military direction, is situated in the district.
