About La Canada
La Canada officially referred to as Canada de Caracheo is a small town within the municipality of Cortazar, within the nation of Guanajuato, Mexico. City elevation is 1 mile above sea level; with a population of approximately three,500. Founded in 1612, La Cañada lies between the hills of La Gavia and El Culiacan. The phrase Canada refers to the Spanish phrase for land among two extended bodies of earth; Caracheo comes from the Purepecha word carachi, which means that dried water.
