Huejucar

Huejucar is a town and district, in Jalisco in focal western Mexico. The district covers a region of 550.23 km². Starting at 2010, the district had an all out population of 6,084. The name Huejucar signifies "Spot of Willows" in Nahuatl. It is around 240 km from the state capital, Guadalajara. It is by Santa Maria de los Angeles and Tepetongo. The district fringes with the province of Zacatecas. The city of Huejucar can follow its history back past the making of Nueva Galicia in the Viceroyalty of New Spain. In 1530, Pedro Almindez Chirinos went through and vanquished the region for the sake of Spain amid his voyage from Cuitzeo, Michoacan to Tepic, Nayarit.

On March 13, 1837, a pronouncement is made that Huejucar would turn out to be a piece of the Colotlan Municipality. Afterward, on November 9, 1861, Huejucar would turn into its very own region and after twelve years on September 24, 1873 would get the title of Villa.
