About Gomez Palacio
Gomez Palacio is a city and its surrounding municipality in northeastern Durango, Mexico, adjacent to the border of the state of Coahuila. The town is named in honor of former Durango governor, Francisco Gomez Palacio y Bravo. From the first half of the 17th century, the land within the triangle shaped with the aid of San Juan de Casta now Leon Guzman, Santiago de Mapimi and Santa Maria de las Parras, shaped a part of the belongings of the Marquis of Aguayo and named Hacienda de San Lorenzo de los angeles Laguna.
In 1848, after numerous adjustments, the lands had been purchased by means of Juan Ignacio Jimenez, from Cuencame.
