About El Fuerte
El Fuerte is a city in El Fuerte municipality, its encompassing region in the northwestern Mexican province of Sinaloa. The city population detailed in the 2010 statistics were 12,566 individuals. El Fuerte, signifying "The Fort", was named a Pueblo Mágico "Magical Town" in 2009, for it has numerous attractions and a unique, truly community emanation. The city was established in 1563 by the Spanish conquistador Francisco de Ibarra, the principal wayfarer of the grandiose Sierra Madre Occidental mountains.
In 1610 a fortification was worked to avert the wild Zuaque and Tehueco Native Americans, who always pestered the Spaniards. For a considerable length of time, El Fuerte filled in as the passage to the tremendous boondocks of the northern regions of Sonora, Arizona and California, which were all meagerly populated by enduring clans of local amerindians. For about 3 centuries it was the most significant business and agrarian focal point of the immense northwestern locale of Mexico.
El Fuerte was a head exchanging post for silver diggers and gold searchers from the Urique and Batopilas mines in the adjacent piles of the Sierra Madre Occidental and its branches. In 1824, El Fuerte turned into the capital city of the recently made Mexican territory of Sonora y Sinaloa venturing up profound into cutting edge Arizona. It remained the capital for quite a long while until the split of this state into the conditions of Sinaloa and Sonora.
