Dzilam Gonzalez

Dzilam Gonzalez Municipality is one of the 106 municipalities inside the Mexican kingdom of Yucatan containing 545.Forty five rectangular kilometres of land and placed more or less 90 kilometres northeast of the town of Merida. It is placed within the former Province of Ah Kin Chel Province to the north of Izamal, approximately 10 kilometres inland from the coast. It become as soon as the port of Dzilam which has now receded inland is called Dzilam Gonzalez. The agricultural produces of the vicinity are corn, onions, beans and fruit. During pre-Hispanic instances, the city fell in the provinces below the chieftainship of Cheles.

After the conquest the region have become a part of the encomienda device. In 1544 Francisco de Montejo hooked up a metropolis on the web site. Yucatan d its independence from the Spanish Crown in 1821 and in 1825, the area became assigned to the Coastal area with its headquarters in Izamal. In 1825, "Gonzalez" was appended to the call to differentiate this location from a port with the equal name. In 1900 it become separated to shape its personal municipality, which included the location that is now Dzilam de Bravo Municipality until 1921, while that become separated.
