Chiltepec

Chiltepec is one of the 570 municipalities that make up the Mexican country of Oaxaca. It belongs to the Tuxtepec district, within the Papaloapan region. It is part of the Las Chinantlas vicinity, the municipality borders at the north with the municipality of San Juan Bautista Tuxtepec, at the south with the municipality of Santa Maria Jacatepec, at the west with the municipality of San Lucas Ojitlan and at the west with the municipality of San Juan Bautista Tuxtepec. San Jose Chiltepec is a municipality with few vestiges and it's far very tough to discover it in time and space.

This call also originally corresponded to a disappeared village whose area couldn't be identified or found; this town together with Usila and Yolox combine the three important manors existing in this location and before the arrival of the Spaniards; inside this culture there was a area called Chinantla Pichinche, name given to it due to the fact its population used to scratch on their heads a cactus on their foreheads, a exercise that apparently that they had copied from the northern Mixtecs, buddies of the Chinantecos who settled within the area between Cosamaloapan, Alvarado and Tuxtepec, this location is referred to as La Mixtequilla.
