Atempa

Atempa it's miles one of the 570 municipalities that make up the Mexican kingdom of Oaxaca and also the municipal seat. It belongs to the district of Tehuantepec, inside the isthmus area. Its head is the homonymous locality. Their inhabitants Binnizaa, as they name themselves, are descendants of the biguigla sa, warrior race, who proudly preserve their traditions, customs and their Zapotec language, with person and temperament, brave and sturdy, noble and pleased with their lineage, the Zapotec stock. It turned into founded in 1530 as one of the neighborhoods that make up Tehuantepec.

On October 2, 1868, it acquired its political-territorial independence from Tehuantepec, thanks to the congress of the nation granting it the petition to set up itself as a loose municipality; in 1869 it obtains the class of town and in 1990 the category of city. It dates from the pre-Hispanic generation, however, within the year 1522 at the advent of the evangelizers together with Pedro de Alvarado, Tonatiu and Fray Bartolome de Olmedo to Tehuantepec, baptized with the name of San Blas the neighborhood, who become a martyr of the Christianity who became Bishop of Sebastian in Albania, south of Russia.
