About Akil
Akil Municipality is one of the 106 districts in the Mexican province of Yucatán containing 48.54 km2 of land and is found about 100 kilometers southeast of the city of Merida. The metropolitan president is chosen for a three-year term. The town chamber has seven councilpersons, who fill in as Secretary and councilors of open works, open lighting, wellbeing, open security, open landmarks, and classification.
There is no exact information on when the town was established, however it was a settlement before the victory. Yucatan announced its freedom from the Spanish Crown in 1821, and in 1825 the zone was doled out to the High Sierra parcel with central station in Tekax Municipality. In 1848, one of the bloodiest clashes of the Caste War of Yucatan happened in Akil between Maya revolutionaries and troops under the order of Colonel Jose Dolores Cetina. In 1919, it turned into its very own region.
