Acuitzio

Acuitzio is one of the 113 municipalities that make up the nation of Michoacan. It is located inside the center of the state and about 35 kilometers from the town of Morelia. It has a territorial extension of one hundred 80.13 km² and consistent with the II Population and Housing Count of 2005, the municipality had 10,050 population. In pre-Hispanic instances, this area become inhabited with the aid of Nahuatl language tribes, who based a ceremonial center, named Coatepec.
