About National Monument in Kuala Lumpur
Being located at the site of Lake Gardens Kuala Lumpur, The National Monument is known to be the tallest freestanding group of bronze sculptures in the world. This wonderful monument is nothing but a historic sculpture built to commemorate the sacrifice of the brave soldiers who died fighting for the freedom of the country. This wonderful monument covers 48,562 sq meter space with 5 major components such as the pavilion, the monument, the war memorial, the surrounding gardens, and the fountains. Felix de Weldon, an American architect designed the monument. Every year on 31st of July, the Prime Minister of the country as well as the heads of police and military pays their salutations to the heroes who fought hard to bring the independence of the country from the clenches of foreign rulers.
The statue symbolizes the common liberty in Malaysia. The national anthem of the country has got a high resemblance with this. The seven statues of soldiers carrying the Malaysian flag enhance the beauty of the sculpture. Each of the warriors in this sculpture embodies one of the seven qualities of leadership: unity, command, strength, urage, wariness, suffering, and sacrifice. The surrounding areas of the monument are the home to numerous attractions. The famous Lake Gardens is located at a walking distance. The sprawling greenery and the lush green vegetation of the Lake Garden, attract viewers from across the world. Another important destination is the world famous aviary, the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park. More than 3000 birds of 200 different species are found in this park. Other important parks include the name of the Deer Park Kuala Lumpur, which is famous for housing the unique iety of deer.
One can feed them and have some snaps with these cute animals. Butterfly Park, Hibiscus Garden, and the Orchid Garden are the other attractions to must visit. Entry to these parks is free of any charge except the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park. For planning your night stay do not worry at all. The hotels are quite posh and will surely meet your purpose well. To experience the night life in the city center, you can select a hotel closer to the Petronas Twin Towers area. The surrounding areas have enclosed many cafes, bistros, and clubs where the visitors can dance and drink for the whole night. Travelling via taxi is the easiest way to reach this place. But one can take KTM Komuter train to make the travel cheaper and convenient.
