Villa Vauban
About Villa Vauban
The Villa Vauban is a craftsmanship historical center in Luxembourg City. As of late revamped and broadened, it shows eighteenth and nineteenth-century artworks procured from private collections.Built-in 1873 as a private living arrangement, the manor owes its name to a stronghold based on a similar site by Sébastien Le Prestre de Vauban 1633– 1707 as a major aspect of the city's protections. An amazing segment of the old fortification divider can be found in the exhibition hall's storm cellar.
The redesign work, finished in 2010, was arranged by Philippe Schmit of the Luxembourg design firm Diane Heirent and Philippe Schmit. Planned by city designer Jean-François Eydt, the home was worked by an Alsacian glove producer, Gabriel Mayer, in an established nineteenth-century style with a Neoclassical exterior.
It was situated on an expansive plot which ended up accessible after the city's fortresses were decimated, giving room to the living arrangement and its stables as well as for a broad French-style plant.
