About Harissa
Harissa is a municipality that consists of villages, Harissa and Daraoun, within the Keserwan District of the Mount Lebanon Governorate of Lebanon. The municipality is located 27 km north of Beirut. Its common elevation is 550 meters above sea level and its general land vicinity is 435 hectares. Harissa is available from the coastal metropolis of Jounieh both by means of road or by a nine-minute journey via a gondola elevate, called the Telepherique. Harissa is home to an important Lebanese pilgrimage web site, Our Lady of Lebanon. It attracts both pilgrims and tourists who need to revel in views of the bay of Jounieh.
Daraoun carries three faculties, one public and private, that enrolled a complete of 457 students as of 2008, at the same time as Harissa had one public college with 242 college students at some point of that equal time period. There were 8 corporations with over 5 employees operating in Daraoun as of 2008, and two businesses with over 5 personnel in Harissa for the duration of that equal period. Daraoun's inhabitants are predominantly Maronite Catholics, at the same time as Harissa has a combined population of Melkite and Maronite Catholics.
