Homa Bay

Homa Bay is a bay and city at the south shore of Winam Gulf of Lake Victoria, in western Kenya. It lies close to Mount Homa inside the Luo language Got Marahuma or God Uma and Ruma National Park, the latter referred to for Jackson's hartebeests and roan antelope the authorities has also launched reticulated giraffes into the park. Homa Bay changed into once the District Headquarters for all of South Nyanza District, Nyanza Province, however has now been divided into as a minimum three districts. Homa Bay is now capital of Homa Bay County as according to the new charter. The town of Homa Bay hosts a Municipal Council.

The municipality has population of 59,844. Homa Bay municipality has 6 wards. Recent archaeological excavations in Kanjera South, positioned at the Homa Peninsula have yielded a combination of artefacts of the Oldowan culture and properly-preserved faunal remains in a sedimentary context that also permits for environmental reconstruction. The earlier findings through Louis Leakey and others include fragments of 4 anatomically modern people related to Pleistocene mammal fossils.
