About Tsurugi
Tsurugi is a city in Mima District, Tokushima Prefecture, at the island of Shikoku in Japan. The town changed into fashioned on March 1, 2005 due to the merger of the towns of Handa and Sadamitsu, and the village of Ichiu, all from Mima District. The region is 194.8 km² and the registered population, as of October 1, 2016, turned into 8,698. Tsurugi is placed in the northwestern part of Tokushima Prefecture. The Yoshino River, Shikoku's 2nd-longest, forms the northern border of Tsurugi.
Two tributaries, the Sadamitsu River and the Handa River, form the city's two predominant valleys. Sadamitsu and Handa are located on the mouths of those rivers, while Ichiu is positioned further up the Sadamitsu river. Most of the town's vicinity is blanketed via steep mountains. Tsurugi is bordered via Mima to the north and east, Higashimiyoshi to the west, and Miyoshi to the south. The JR Shikoku Tokushima Line serves Tsurugi with two stations: Awa-Handa Station and Sadamitsu.
