About Todai-ji

Todaiji is one of Japan's most acclaimed and verifiably huge sanctuaries and a milestone of Nara.

It is a Buddhist sanctuary complex that was once one of the capable Seven Great Temples, situated in the city of Nara, Japan and the Great Buddha Hall houses the world's biggest bronze statue of the Buddha Vairocana, referred to in Japanese as Daibutsu.

The sanctuary was developed in 752 as the head sanctuary of all commonplace Buddhist sanctuaries of Japan and developed so capable that the capital was moved from Nara to Nagaoka in 784 so as to bring down the sanctuary's impact on government affairs.

Todaiji's primary corridor, the Daibutsuden Big Buddha Hall is the world's biggest wooden working, in spite of the way that the present recreation of 1692 is just 66% of the first sanctuary lobby's size.
