About Samukawa Shrine
Samukawa Shrine is a Shinto place of worship in the town of Samukawa in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. This place of worship is a standout amongst the most well known holy places around Tokyo, where around 2 million individuals visit every year. The starting points of Samukawa Shrine are obscure. Mysterious holy place legend expresses that it was established amid the rule of Emperor Yuryaku 418-479. The primary kami of Samukawa Shrine is the Samukawa Daimyojin, an amalgamation of the male Samukawa-hiko no mikoto and the female Samukawa-hime no mikoto. Both were nearby kami. The most punctual composed records demonstrate that the place of worship was remade in the year 727, and its name likewise shows up in the Shoku Nihon Koki section for the year 846. Samukawa was assigned as the main Shinto hallowed place ichinomiya for the previous Sagami area.
From 1871 through 1946, Sumakawa was formally assigned one of the Kokuhei Chusha, implying that it remained in the mid-scope of positioned, broadly critical hallowed places. The primary celebration of the altar is held every year on September 20, and highlights yabusame exhibitions. Amid the Setsubun celebration in February, lit up paper figures are dangled from the primary entryway in a style like that of the Nebuta in Aomori Prefecture.
