About Oita Prefectural Art Museum
The Oita Prefectural Art Museum is an art museum and community exhibition venue in Oita Prefecture, Japan. The museum was opened in April 2015. The new historical center structure highlights present day display spaces, specialists studios, a bistro and gallery shop. The structure was planned by Pritzker Architecture Prize winning modeler Shigeru Ban. At the ground level the structure includes completely retractable glass shades opening the primary inward display space onto a nearby open square.
The structure was the beneficiary of a RIBA International Award for brilliance in 2016. The art galleries are situated on the third floor of the historical center and can be gotten to through an extensive portal with a delicately bended, wood cross section roof.
