About Nanzen-ji

Nanzenji Temple is well known among locals for its spirituality, whose roomy grounds are situated at the base of Kyoto's forested Higashiyama mountain, is a standout amongst the most imperative Zen sanctuaries in all of Japan. It is the head sanctuary of one of the schools inside the Rinzai order of Japanese Zen Buddhism and incorporates numerous subtemples that make the effectively substantial complex of sanctuary structures significantly bigger.

Outside the Hojo guests will go over a somewhat odd sight: an extensive block water passage that goes through the sanctuary grounds. Worked amid the Meiji Period 1868-1912, the reservoir conduit is a piece of a trench framework that was built to convey water and products amongst Kyoto and Lake Biwa in neighboring Shiga Prefecture. Ways keep running close by the waterway that leads into the encompassing timberland.
