About Nakatsu Castle
Nakatsu Castle is a Japanese castle in the city of Nakatsu in Oita Prefecture. It is known as one of the three mizujiro, or "palaces on the ocean", in Japan, with Takamatsu Castle in Kagawa Prefecture and Imabari Castle in Ehime Prefecture. The manor is circumscribed by a conventional stone divider and a channel. The structure is a steel-outline five-storied structure, and the best floor is a perception deck. The stronghold draws salt water from the close-by Seto Inland Sea to fill the channel.
The castle is presently used as a museum displaying legacies of families that represented the district. The exhibition hall has numerous materials on rangaku, as the city of Nakatsu was a focal point of rangaku learning. Moreover, the stronghold houses the Okudaira place of worship, which is a critical sanctuary for the general population of the city. The mansion was set available to be purchased in 2007 by the proprietors. After exchanges with the Nakatsu City Council failed to work out, the structure was sold in 2010 to a Saitama-based organization called Chiga.
