About Mizumaki
Mizumaki is a metropolis positioned in Onga District, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. About 3000 years ago, the large Ko-Onga Bay protected the region wherein the town of Mizumaki now lies. Soil and silt carried by using the Onga River gradually constructed up till a flat plain was constructed up inside the region. People started living and planting rice plants on that ground. Terrible floods always plagued the area.
In the year 1889, the village of Mizumaki was shaped when nine villages merged. From that time, the population expanded as workers moved in to work inside the rich coal mines. In 1940 Mizumaki officially have become a city. Mizumaki changed into the web site of Japan Coal Mining Company, Onga Coal Mine" which used forced worker's inside the mine, mainly Dutch, American and British POWs in World War II. A memorial called "The Memorial Cross commemorates the allied POWs who died all through the warfare.
