About Meoto Iwa

Meoto Iwa , or the Married Couple Rocks, are two or three little rough stacks in the ocean off Futami, Mie, Japan. They are joined by a shimenawa and are viewed as hallowed by admirers at the neighboring Futami Okitama Shrine Futami Okitama Jinja.According to Shinto, the stones speak to the association of the maker of kami, Izanagi and Izanami. The stones, along these lines, commend the association in marriage of man and lady.
The rope, which weighs over a ton, must be supplanted a few times each year in an extraordinary function. The bigger shake, said to be male, has a little torii at its pinnacle. The best time to see the stones is at first light amid the late spring, when the sun seems to ascend between them. Mount Fuji is obvious out there. At low tide, the stones are not isolated by water.
