About Kitano Tenmangu

Kitano Tenmangu Shrine is a standout amongst the most essential of a few hundred altars crosswise over Japan that are devoted to Sugawara Michizane, a researcher and lawmaker who was unreasonably ousted by his political opponents. Various catastrophes were ascribed to Michizane's vindictive soul after his passing in a state of banishment, and these places of worship were worked to pacify him.

Notwithstanding the tobiume tree, Kitano Tenmangu highlights the whole woods of almost 2000 trees that sprout from February to March. The altar has a unique tea service, called Baikasai, in this plum forest each February 25th, went to by maiko and geiko of the adjacent Kamishichiken geiko region.
