About Kikugawa
Kikugawa is a metropolis placed within the western portion of Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. The town is understood for manufacturing of green tea. The metropolis's slogan is "Green for the Next Generation". As of March 2018, the town has an envisioned population of 46,955 and a populace density of 499 persons in keeping with km2. The overall region is 94.19 km2. In the cadastral reform of the early Meiji length on April 1, 1889, the area around modern Kikugawa became consolidated into eleven villages inside Kito District, Shizuoka Prefecture from 38 hamlets within former Totomi Province.
Kikugawa Station on the Tokai Main Line educate among Shizuoka and Hamamatsu opened on April 16, 1889 leaving to an influx of population and improvement. Kito District merged with neighboring Sano District to shape Ogasa District, Shizuoka in 1896. Through the Taisho and Showa periods, Kikugawa evolved as a middle of green tea manufacturing and the tea change. Kikugawa Town changed into created on January 1, 1954 via the merger of former Horinouchi Town with 4 surrounding villages.
