About Kanazawa Castle
Kanazawa Castle is a large, in part-restored castle in, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. It is positioned adjacent to the celebrated Kenroku-en Garden, which once fashioned the fort's personal outer garden. It become the headquarters of Kaga Domain, ruled via the Maeda clan for 14 generations from the Sengoku period till the coming of the Meiji Restoration in 1871. During the past due Muromachi period, the Ikkoikki, followers of the teachings of priest Rennyo, of the Jodo Shinshu sect, displaced the reliable governors of the province, the Togashi extended family, and set up a form of theocratic republic later known as "The Peasants' Kingdom.
