About Jindaiji Temple
Jindaiji Temple is an old Buddhist temple in Chofu City, in the west of Tokyo, and the second most seasoned in the city, after Sensoji Temple in Asakusa. Jindai merits visiting for its authentic noteworthiness, however for its excellent sanctuary structures, quieted sylvan setting, the minor "township" feel of the curious soba eateries and different shops paving the way to its door, and, not least, for its closeness to the all year wonderful Jindai Botanical Garden.
Jindaiji Temple is a Tendai Buddhist sanctuary and is related with the warrior priest, Ryogen AKA Ganzan Daishi, who is praised in the exceptional daruma doll convention of Jindaiji Temple. Legend has it that Jindaiji was established in 733 AD, making it the second most seasoned sanctuary in the Tokyo city after Sensoji Temple in Asakusa. Jindaiji Temple takes its name from the first and third syllables of the god Jinja Daioh, which is said to be the god the author's dad appealed to when swimming to an island to be with the lady he adored - whereupon a turtle showed up and transported him on its back.
