About Honmyo-ji

Honmyo-ji is a Buddhist sanctuary of the Nichiren group, Rokujomon-ryu, in Nishi-ku, Kumamoto, Japan. It is the most high-positioning sanctuary of the organization in Kyushu. In Honmyo-ji is the grave of Kato Kiyomasa, 1562– 1611, a Japanese daimyo, manufacturer of Kumamoto Castle and a devoted buddhist of Nichiren Buddhism. Honmyo-ji comprises of two sections, the grave of Kato Kiyomasa which is called Jochibyo, and Honmyo-ji sanctuary. He was a devoted adherent of Nichiren Buddhism.

There is a straight street starting at Kamikumamoto, through a major torii, spotted with 12 littler sanctuaries called tatchu, prompting the Honmyo-ji sanctuary. From the sanctuary, a lofty incline starts, which is called Munatsuki Gangi, comprising of 176 stone advances, prompting the grave. On the focal piece of the street are many stone light structures, contributed by adherents. Individuals supplicate before the raised area of the grave of Kato Kiyomasa. There is a gallery lodging different conventional things of recorded significance. There is a major statue of Kato Kiyomasa, 300 stages upwards.
