About Gokoku-ji
Gokokuji Temple is a Buddhist sanctuary in Naha, Okinawa, adjoining Namanoue Shrine, with which it has close associations. The sanctuary was established in 1387 by Raiju a cleric from Satsuma Province, now advanced Kagoshima Prefecture. Gokokuji Temple is maybe most well known for two recorded occurrences which had implications a long ways past Okinawa. The primary included the landing, on a British ship, of the bad tempered Christian preacher Dr. Bernard Jean Bettelheim 1811-1870, a changed over Jew from Hungary in 1846.
Bettelheim deceived his way on shore and relocated to the sanctuary with his better half and kids, an unwelcome aggravation, who fundamentally headed out the sanctuary's admirers and extraordinarily disturbed his hesitant hosts with his conduct and endeavors to change over local people.
