About Glover Garden
Glover Garden is an outdoors historical center in Nagasaki that displays manors of a few of the city's previous remote inhabitants and related structures. It is situated on the slope where Western dealers settled down after the finish of Japan's period of detachment in the second 50% of the nineteenth century.
Thomas Glover 1838-1911 was a Scottish trader who moved to Nagasaki after the opening of its port to outside exchange 1859. He later helped a portion of the progressives who might inevitably topple the Tokugawa Shogunate in the Meiji Restoration. Dynamic in different ventures, including shipbuilding and mining, Glover includes conspicuously in the early history of Japan's industrialization.
