About Dazaifu Tenmangu
Dazaifu Tenman-gu is a Shinto shrine in Dazaifu, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. It is constructed over the grave of Sugawara no Michizane and is one of the fundamental shrines dedicated to Tenjin, the deified shape of Michizane. According to legend, Michizane become a talented student who composed many poems committed to his favored plum bushes. Said to be preferred by the gods, Michizane raised the ire of the Fujiwara extended family, who exiled him to Kyushu. Michizane spent his exile analyzing, and died at the age of 57. When Michizane died, his frame was carried by an ox that stopped near a Buddhist monastery.
Unable to move the body alongside, Michizane turned into buried there through his follower, Umasake no Yasuyuki, and the shrine turned into constructed there Today, a statue of an ox stands close by to commemorate the occasion. It's also stated that the plum tree in the shrine flew from Kyoto to be reunited with Michizane in his dying, and that it's miles constantly the first plum tree to bloom in Japan. Soon after Michizane died, five contributors of the Fujiwara extended family, the royal family involved in Michizane's exile, died, one from a lightning strike that struck the extended family's fort.
