About Chikubu Island
Chikubu is a little island situated in the northern piece of Biwa Lake of Japan. It is a broadly assigned Place of Scenic Beauty and Historic Site. The coastline of island estimates 2 km. It is the second biggest island in Lake Biwa, after Oki island Oki-shima, a possessed island. The island is a piece of Hazayaki-cho, in Nagahama city of Shiga Prefecture.
The island is likewise called the Island of the Gods and assigned as one of the Eight Views of Omi. Several works of the Japanese performing expressions identify with Chikubu.
They incorporate the Noh play Chikubushima and the Heike Biwa work Chikubushima Mode, two koto songs named Chikubushima, a joruri, a nagauta, and a tokiwazu-bushi of a similar name. There are different spots of enthusiasm on the island. In the southern part is the Tsukubusuma Shrine, said to have been set up in 420, and Hogon-ji, a Shingon sanctuary said to date from 724.
Previously known as Chikubu Benzai-ten, it positions with the Enoshima Shrine in the Kanto locale and the Itsukushima Shrine in the Chugoku Region as one of Japan's Three Great Benzaiten Shrines. Additionally, the Karamon entryway is a National Treasure of Japan. Amid the Sengoku time frame, retainers of Azai Nagamasa limited his dad Hisamasa to Chikubu Island, compelling him into retirement and building up Nagamasa as his successor.
