About Amagase Dam
The Amagase Dam is an arch dam at the Uji River simply upstream from Uji City in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. The main reason of the dam is flood control but it helps a hydroelectric power station and creates the lower reservoir for the Kisenyama Pumped Storage Plant. The dam itself serves a 92 MW electricity station at the same time as the pumped-garage strength station upstream has a 466 MW capacity. Construction on the dam started out in 1955 and it became entire in 1964.
The pumped-storage power station have become operational in 1970. Both plants are owned by using Kansai Electric Power Company. Using Lake Hoo because the lower reservoir, water is pumped as much as the upper reservoir through two pump-generators. The higher reservoir is created via a rock-fill dam. This method can be repeated and era generally happens all through peak utilization durations.
The excessive water stage at the higher reservoir is 296 m 971 ft above sea stage at the same time as it's miles 78.5 m 258 toes ASL inside the lower reservoir. This gives the power station an effective hydraulic head of 219.35 m 720 feet. Its discharge capability is 248 m3/s 8,758 cu feet/s. The first generator of the pumped-garage electricity station became operational in January 1970 and the second one in July of that year. It has a most output of 466 MW.
