About Venosa
Venosa is a metropolis and comune inside the province of Potenza, inside the southern Italian region of Basilicata, in the Vulture region. It is bounded by the comuni of Barile, Ginestra, Lavello, Maschito, Montemilone, Palazzo San Gervasio, Rapolla and Spinazzola. The city became known as Venusia to the Romans, who credited its status quo as Aphrodisia to the Homeric hero Diomedes. He was said to have moved to Magna Graeca in southern Italy following the Trojan War, in search of an existence of peace and constructing the metropolis and its temples to assuage the anger of Aphrodite for the destruction of her liked Troy.
The city was taken through the Romans after the Third Samnite War in 291 BC and became a colony. No fewer than 20,000 guys have been dispatched there, attributable to its navy significance. Throughout the Hannibalic wars it remained faithful to Rome and had a similarly contingent of colonists sent in two hundred BC to replace its losses in conflict. In 190 BC the Appian Way changed into extended to the metropolis.
